Stuff we made…
Talking Timer is a FREE, clean, easy to use, customisable Timer with text to speech (TTS) interval alerts.
This Chrome App was born out of necessity for a simple timer that would notify me at various intervals during a countdown. I developed this app specifically for use while creating digital paintings as part of a Daily Spitpaint challenge (time-limited to 30mins).
Feeling that this app could be useful to others, I decided to make it customisable for all purposes.

Today marks the release of a FREE application, Cue Tool Lite!
Cue Tool Lite is a Windows application that combines two of Cue Tool‘s best features into one simple, easy to use application. Cue Tool Lite consists primarily of a 60-second Shot Timer, but also integrates a Player Scoreboard as well.
Cue Tool Lite was initially developed to assist on Tournament nights for our own league games, but quickly realised that others could benefit from such an application. While Cue Tool for mobile devices has many more tools & features, it is only really aimed to a single user. Whereas Cue Tool Lite allows players and spectators alike to know how many seconds remain and what the score is at all times.
Simple to use; enter players names, control scoring via mouse or keyboard.
60-second shot timer, which can be easily controlled using the buttons provided (Start/Pause/Resume/Reset). The shot timer changes colour at pre-determined intervals (30 secs, 10 secs).
One of the coolest features of Cue Tool Lite is the lock-mode, which allows you to easily use a wireless mouse as a remote control for the Shot timer. Lock-mode “locks” the mouse cursor in place, allowing you (as a referee, for example) to stand away from the laptop and close to the game table and still have full control of the application.

Cue Tool (Lite) v1.2 (07/05/2012)
A new version of Cue Tool is now available. This resolves a few issues (including compatibility with Android 4.0), but also delivers a new feature!
Pool Coach offers step-by-step lessons, ranging from Beginner-level to Advanced. With detailed table diagrams to guide you every step of the way. Currently Pool Coach offers five lessons, but this will hopefully grow in time.
If you have any particular lessons that you would like to see in the Pool Coach feature, please let me know.
Changes in v1.0.6:
• ADD: “Pool Coach” – Five step-by-step lessons from Beginner-level to Advanced (more to come)
• ADD: Added new sites to the Useful Links
• FIX: Missing rules images on Android 4.0 (ICS) devices
• FIX: Suspend/Resume no longer clears Scoreboard data
• FIX: Optimised Rules/Tips layout on small screens
• CHG: Most used items longer wait for usage in all sections
• CHG: Optimised images to reduce application size
Cue Tool is now a “Featured” app on the Android Market. It has been hand-picked to be part of the “Staff Picks” section. This is excellent news and is wonderful to know that Cue Tool was recognised and deemed worthy of being short-listed.
Developing Cue Tool has been a long, but worthwhile journey. Originally created as a tool to assist our Pool team on game nights; it has grown into its own collection of apps, all rolled into one.
I’d like to thank Google for short-listing Cue Tool, but most importantly; thank you to anyone who has purchased Cue Tool.
My goal has always been for Cue Tool to be the No.1 app for all cue sport enthusiasts, be it Pool, Snooker, Billiards or whatever. Which is why your feedback is very important to us. If you feel there is something that you think can be improved in Cue Tool, please let us know via the Bug/Feature Request form and we’ll see what we can do.
Right, better get back to adding some new features.
Thanks again and watch this space!
Matthew Sherman (Pool Author/Teacher/Guru) from billiards.about.com has given Cue Tool an excellent write-up. He was particularly impressed with the 3D Coin Flip tool and also the Killer Scoreboard. It appears that “Killer Pool” is not as prevalent across the USA as it is here in the UK. But with Matt’s positive words, perhaps that will change…
Cue Tool has been listed on the popular UK/EUR Android news site Eurodroid. They gave it a nice little write-up, focusing on Cue Tool’s benefits to Pool players as well as highlighting the 3D-rendered Coin Flip tool. As a regular visitor to the news site, I was particularly pleased with the news item!
